Our History

1909 The Beginning

Radical One Ministry traces its roots back to 1909, when New Saint James Baptist Church was organized under the leadership of Reverend Julius Waters. This was the beginning of a faith community built on worship, service, and a deep commitment to God and people.

1965 A Rebuild and a New Season

1965, the church was rebuilt on Sunbeam Road. This moment marked a major step forward in the ministry’s growth and stability. During this rebuilding season, several leaders helped strengthen the foundation and support the church’s direction, including Reverend Albert Mobley, Trustee Wesley Walker, Deacon Neil King, Deacon Johnny Graham and Deacon Henry Jones.

A Ministry That Kept Moving With God

Over time, the church experienced multiple transitions in name and identity. These were not random changes. They were described as prayerful shifts that reflected what God was doing in each season. Each name carried the weight of growth, refinement, and new focus.

Why The Name Radical One

Radical One was chosen with the next generation in mind. Apostle Barbara Patterson shared that her daughter helped come up with the name because they wanted something that could connect with younger people while still holding strong spiritual meaning. The name reflects bold faith, fresh vision, and a church that is not afraid to stand out for God.
